the elements are solid

It's needs a little bit more punch and liveliness however. Everything is a little to dry for my tastes. I mean, certainly, no-one wants 500 instruments drenched in 200% density airplane hanger reverb but I think here the parts would benefit tremendously from some more aggressive eq tweaks and ambiance effects. There are smaller criticisms I might state but the overall character of the song is still satisfying.

Thanx I will take heed and make a remix wid the above tweaks you mentioned

creative

the breaks are very well done. vocals sample usage is top-notch. no criticism here. the pads are little too thick for my taste and some of moments of chord progression not exactly what i'm looking for. But then I'm critiquing you like I would someone who really knows what they are doing - because you obviously do.

i love the bush sample though. I think bush samples basically make any song awesome. I remember one song called - "Danger to Our Country" by some really obscure online artist - and dangit if it wasn't one of the coolest songs that I can't remember where I found it anymore. i digrees. again - well done.

Thank you very much man, and thanks to everyone who has taken the time to review!

some intentional dissonance

Sounds a little like a club remix the way the instruments/beats shift around and sometimes stand out against each other. Some parts worked very well. Others sounded a little odd. The kick in the initial beat is pure gold. Makes for a good listen.

FatKidWitAJetPak responds:

THanks, sorry you didn't like this one.

almost enya like

The chords and pads are somewhat different - but the very way the musical theme is approached is delicate enough to take the focus off simply the timbre itself. I believe that the random ambient elements in the song are what give it a definite edge. I enjoyed those parts the most. It's relaxing, but I can see why it might not suit everyone's tastes - it's more of a specialized type of minimalist piece.

I would note that there is some apparent crackling/distortion caused by some of the resonances from the pads and elements. Something like voxengo's crunchessor could probably alleviate that small problem.

FatKidWitAJetPak responds:

Probably... thanks for your help!

Oh and BTW, the crackling is on purpose, it procvides Vibrations on the song.

impressive

If you created those string loops then I would be doubly impressed. But as it is - the piece is fantastic. Great listen...I was wondering at first when I was watching the nintendo power flash if this may have actually been created by someone on NG. The second half of the song isn't nearly as enjoyable as the first part - though still creative.

B-man123 responds:

thanks

took me 3 seconds to rate this a 5/5

I don't like rap music personally - but I can appreciate it and I know the difference between someone with and without talent, and this is definitely an example of the latter. The rhymes are pretty decent. They could stick a little a tighter to the rhythm itself (ala eminem) or at be a little more carefully weighted across the timing (ala 2-pac). I would go for a little less processing on the vocals as well. A little too much phasing there.

but the thing (overall) is "bangin". ha. funny. 5/5

InGenius responds:

Thanks for the review. Ya, I overprocessed this one a bit, but inmy defense I had been drinkin' for a bit before finishin' this one up. As for the weighting, yah I feel ya, but on a freestyle my flow comes as it comes for each individual track. Some might come out different than this, but I went with a southern, Texas underground style of rhyme scheme on this one since I was freestylin' over a Texas beat. Appreciate takin' the time to review.

Peace

sweet - glitchy stuff! inspiring

i suppose it may be unfair, because i love stuff like this - i really want to hear the finished song.

makes me want to go out and put together a glitch song (i really don't think i've tried one of those yet - something vaguely 'like' d'n'b is the closet i think i've come.

nice work here! no really though, the mix is really good. what's your monitoring setup like? speakers? headphones? amp?

Sythec responds:

The Glitchy sounds are randomizations with very VERY high pitched synths.
The gap-effect is a simple little Buzz-effect adapter (SAVAGE GAPS) sent to the "Cicada" effect I came up with, and the Drum-loop.
I use Sennheiser audiophile quality headphones (Huge freq range!), An AMD Turion64 (2.4ghz) which can barely pump out the sounds on FL (especially with several Z3Ta+ bass samples.)
Working on some Grime lately... It is going to be Massive, all these posts are just tid-bits of practice Until i get the urge to actually spend 7 hours and finish something.

Also, I have learned FL strictly on Trial-Error lol. No direct music backgrounds... I am in the open (total). I still find new stuff every day when I use FL.
Although I have been grooving with NeuralFusion, I wish someone IRL would teach me. Blargh, Minnesota.

a pure instrumental would have been much better

i'd just cut the vocals. they actually made the song worse in my opinion - which stinks because it's such an amazingly well produced number. kudos on the mixing for all the instruments on this. The fact that one guy tried to "blam" you is evidence that this is an epic sounding track by itself. i might stand for a little bit more bite and edge on the lead and harmony guitars....but that's just me.

again, fantastic work.

speedmetalmessiah responds:

I actually like the vocals a lot though. It really does add to it more than if it just an instrumental.

I guess it cn be taken as a compliment that that guy thought it was stolen. Though it still is annoying to be accused of stealing a song and claiming it as my own work. As for the tone. I'll probably add a tube screamer to it to give it some more bite. I noticed the other day when I was laying down a solo that I never put one on there.

Thanks a lot for the review and the bit of criticism. I appreciate it.

hey

this track has a huge amount of potential. i think that it could be beefed up in terms of edge and resonance at the filter cutoff to make everything fatter and crunchier. Then it would rock. It shows that you've got character though. Sometimes can be a rarity with the typical ng entries...

DomesticTerrorist responds:

Thanks, I appreciate it! This was one of my first submissions... so hopefully some of the newer stuff I've uploaded has gotten better on the mastering end.
