I don't really like death metal growling vocals

but 8 for production and overall coolness. Good job! Most of the elements were recorded really quite well (not perfectly, but decent). Creativity and spontaneity are definitely the strong points here...

I'm a terrible vocalist, but none of my friends wanted to do vocals for it so I just threw some over the song, hehe. I guess I should mention this was first written as a joke, but I've grown kind of fond of it as of late. Maybe I'll try to actually form the band.

okay fine - I wont break the string of 10's you've got going on here.

This is some seriously fresh stuff, man. Something about it is just completely chill. Really easy listening and good for relaxing. It might just be all samples - but the way that you've put them together is what matters. You've got quite the feel for this stuff. I like it. Pretty awesome. I wonder what it would sound like for you to branch out and try some drastically different genres...

why do your songs not have any reviews??!

a really curious one here. It's definitely experimental and almost minimalist (well, then the beat comes in). I think you've got the whole groove thing down. That's really what counts for these chillout type tracks. It's not necessary to have them be too overly progressive or anything, so good work.

ok. That makes no sense. But anyway. It's kind of an interesting piece. Not the most incredible thing - but it's solid. I like the buzzing/hum in the background at parts. I don't know if that's intentional - but it works. It does need someone to rap over it. I wish I had more helpful critique.

Vocals are beautiful - soundstage is wonderfully presented and clear. Everything sits so close to perfectly in this beau that it would be hard to talk anything down mix-wise. Absolutely brilliant piece stylistically as well. Everything here is ace. Hands down the best piece on newgrounds.

The piece is strange. not for the normal reasons though. It's strange because it reminds me of a extraordinary song reduced to the midi arrangement and played back through a standard gm dls bank (well, maybe an above average one). There's somehow so much potential here. It's like a sleeper piece or something. Hard to describe.

I think if you were to extend on your mixing skills/ability and pick up some very nice payware instruments, you'd be heading somewhere pretty quick.

Listening to it more, it is growing really quickly on me. In fact, by 2:40 - it is really really good. Odd. Didn't expect to like it this much. It's already so "fresh"! LOL. Good job guy!

My composition and melodies have always been good, I've known this. but I've also known that my music lacks something.... like it sounds good but not "professional". When I listened to your music, it just fortified that idea in my mind. But I think now I can finally get that tonality that I've been lacking.

Haha... yea that's what I was thinking too. I was actually considering scrapping the whole joke idea and using that part at around :40 to make an actual song. But I was sort of hoping Tom would put this song on the front page or something since it had poop in the title.

hey, sounds really full

wonderful breadth to this piece. The "scenery" and placement of everything is spot on. very very good. The initial bouncy lead synth didn't sound like the "right" one necessarily, but later on in the song it fit better, so it must simply have been an issue of timing. Ahh, now however the lead that pops in a 1:52 is just about right, very fitting! I like that. 2:22 ---> Also really cool!!

There might have been the slightest bit too much "weight" to some of the reverbs. Some equalization on the reverb itself might have even'd this out. That's nitpicking though. The chords used were good - I think the initial portion of the song didn't do enough justice to it however. The vibraphone section was a standout.

This would likely be newage/experimental. The boundaries of genres (so to speak) nowadays is all but completely destroyed with the pure wealth of music available out there. It's more of a guideline.

The overall bounciness and freeflowing feeling was very well cemented in by a good song structure. It is in ways very evocative of my own work (interesting to hear such a spin). It's certainly good piece. I think the direction itself is the most positive.

Ah, so "breadth" is the concept I've been missing out on? Keeping separate instruments confined to separate ranges of frequencies? Using the widest range of frequencies possible? That's what I was trying to do with this song. I also picked out the cleanest, purest sounding samples and leads, and added at least a little bit of reverb to everything (more if it sounded better).

The weird timing arises from the fact that I like to challenge myself. Not only did I put this song into 5/4 time signature, but I used a 4/4 beat and just modified it to fit 5/4. I like to do weird stuff like that.

Whether you realize it or not, you have just permanently changed the way I'm going to write music from now on. Thank you very much!

Definitely far far above the norm for around here. Great work on this track. I'll pose the same question - which instruments did you use? I'm always interested to hear about how each composer creates a song (instruments/fx choices, mixing style, etc.)

It's got that extremely solid feel to it. I wish it did go a little more deep and full at points but it's satisfying nonetheless.

Thanks! On Logic Express 8 I used a Trance and Techno Kit for the basic beat. I used an instrument called Glowstick which is that 1 note (2 notes later on) that is off beat and obnoxious. I used Shining Fuzz for the bass line in the first half of the song that switches between octaves. For the bass in the second half, I used Fat FM bass. For the soft bells that are an arpeggio , I used the instrument Modulated Bells. For the other bells, I used Dreamy Bells. That's pretty much it. I didn't use that many layers (10), but I did mix it (volumes of instruments) to my liking. I was just bored one night and decided to make this. I wanted to keep it simple and easy. I struggle sometimes with making my songs full and deep. I wasn't trying that hard with this song. I'm glad you think this is far far above the norm!!! :D
