this is good

There's not a whole lot of decent amateur rap out there that doesn't sound really corny and just not clever or timed well.

This is HUGE HUGE exception to that. This is an excellent (if short) and incredibly well written and poignant example of well-thought out and aptly engineered rhyme paired with a catchy beat and instrumental...

Listening to it again, I am stuck how on occasion these gems do actually show in their proper spot on newgrounds instead of the normal multi-tracked drivel that graces the front page of the audio portal normally.

The only thing I think is funny is you used the word "refute" in reference to what the character could do in the case of his own "sh*t talking". It doesn't exactly make sense in this context as the word refute means to figuratively dismantle (as in to refute someone else's statement), and why would the character want to sabotage his own argument? Anyway - there's a more appropriate word choice there that I can't suggest at right now.

Well written review, thanks for taking the time!

Think about the similar phrase "He wouldn't fight because he couldn't fight back." The downfall of my sentence is the pronoun "it", as what "it" refers to is ambiguous. It's tricky writing with rhyme and rythm without losing clarity, and I did lose a bit there. I'm working on it though, expect better next time! :D Thanks again!

superb beginning arp

That's enough right there to get a good grove. That's fantastic - must have taken some serious tweaking to get that sound. So rich. Most all the instruments really - standouts. Does sound very reasonish, but in a good way.

I don't dig the side-chain compression off the kick though. To disorienting for me. Doesn't seem to go very far after the initial setup. The breakdown @ 3:05 is minimalistic but enjoyable (more than the beats IMO).

Impressive...

Uber-professional. You certainly have a knack for this. The flow and pace of the song is just excellent...I would have preferred some really kickin drums at about 3:30 to really drive the song forward and build up the energy - but the way it sits is still fine and why I'm not giving this a 10. Some obviously very complicated and probably modular fx arrangements to achieve the huge ambiance in the song.

Reminds of a much more relaxed BT.

Helth responds:

BT?

Thanks :)

too much compression for my tastes....

A mite bright and edgy but everyone has their own style. The composition itself in terms of progression and overall synth timbre is excellent. There is a good deal of ambiance that seems to be gasping for breath as it's buried so heavily beneath a layer of thick compression.

So not a big fan of that area of production. But then this is an honest review, so I figure why not? Again - excellent use of instrumentation and atmosphere but it's just overwhelmed in the end by heavy pumping compression that forced me to turn the volume down a few notches. It's pretty typical trance though in the end.

F-777 responds:

Thanks for the review!!
Ya that bass in the end i made but i suck at mastering
sounds i make probably cause i make em weird...

Anyways thanks =). I might remaster this one
in the future so it doesnt feel drowned out and
heavy.

Thanks for the review!

nice

beautiful stuff. Extraordinary production and content here. No complaints or critiques. You guys appear to be real virtuosos at this stuff...

Metaljonus responds:

Thx!

Ditto the guy below

the police actually do protect the people...and it would be a pretty big mistake to "remove police". However - the song sounds fantastic so I'll give you a 10.

dude, you are way way funny with this stuff

holy cow. I did lol on this one. It's so flipping clever. I had to download this one too. Wow. Way funny.

this is freaking good

Awesome. D/L'd, 5'd, 10'd, all that stuff. I likey. Very very tripped out and ambient sounding...

evil dog strikes again....

and wins!! ha ha ha! awesome song!! sounds quite nice...

you do this cover thing pretty well I'd say.

Evil-Dog responds:

hahaha thanks josh :)

sounds like they all have a lot of potential

Love the mix on all these...it's pristine quality! Like this stuff. Can't wait to hear the full versions... good work here - just wanted to put a plug in for you. YEEAH that second to last part was bangin!!!! I like that! And the last one was good too. But I'd say concentrate on the ambient section (3:05 -3:27) and let me know when you finish it.
